Demolition has begun to make way for a project poised to bring more residential density to the center of Madeira.
Bradford Place, which is being developed by
Riverstone Development Group, will feature 26 Cape Cod-inspired, upscale townhomes off of Euclid Avenue in the heart of the business district.
The custom-built townhomes will be between 2,800 and 4,000 square feet.
John Dobbs, chair of the Madeira City Council Economic Development Committee, says that Bradford Place fills a significant need identified by the city's Senior Housing Task Force by allowing seniors to "age in place".
"The Bradford Place development represents an important step in providing alternative housing in Madeira for empty nesters," he says. "And it is within easy walking distance to the Madeira Central Business District."
The project's medium density will act as a buffer between the business district and neighboring single-family homes.
Madeira officials also hope that the new development will bring a walkable urbanity to their business district.
"The development is pedestrian-friendly and a sidewalk connecting Bradford Place to the Central Business District will be open to everyone," Dobbs says.
Fourteen units will be built in the project's first phase, and the development is expected to have occupancy by year's end.
