Noelle Zielinski

Noelle Zielinski is a recent journalism graduate from the University of Cincinnati. She’s passionate about the arts, cooking, and loves trying new things. In her free time she enjoys reading and trying her best to be a successful plant mom.


Kacey King Redmond

Kacey King Redmond is a graduate of Ohio University’s Scripps School of Journalism and has her MBA from Thomas More University. She has written for various trade publications, associations, and is a published poet and children’s author. She currently specializes in content marketing for her consulting firm, Cincy Marketing Maven, and acts as social media manager for Soapbox Cincinnati and its sister publication, NKY Thrives.

Jim DeBrosse

Jim DeBrosse is the project editor of Ohio Civics Essential, author of five books, a contributing writer for Cincinnati Magazine, and an award-winning newspaper reporter and columnist. Until he retired in 2018, he was a journalism teacher at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. As part of his commitment to social justice, he co-founded a news website devoted to workplace fairness and equal opportunity, "Cincinnatians for the American Dream." He lives in Cincinnati's historic Over-the-Rhine neighborhood where he volunteers as a tutor at Rothenberg Academy.


Steve Aust

Steve is a freelance writer and editor, father, and husband who enjoys cooking, exercise, travel, and reading. A native of Fort Thomas who spent his collegiate and early-adulthood years in Georgia, marriage brought him across the river, where he now resides in Oakley.

Doug Oplinger

Doug Oplinger is former managing editor of the Akron Beacon Journal where he worked for 46 years. He now is the project manager for Your Voice Ohio, a collaborative of more than 50 news outlets in Ohio, sharing resources to better represent the voices of Ohioans in the democratic process.

Elissa Yancey, former Soapbox managing editor and co-founder of nonprofits WordPlay Cincy and A Picture's Worth, is a longtime Cincinnati journalist and educator with a passion for building community through story.

Matthew Hall

Matthew Hall is a Mount Lookout-based freelance writer/editor specializing in covering architectural and design trends. His career includes stints with the Cincinnati Business Courier, the Cincinnati Enquirer, Fatbrain.com (an online bookseller) and Boutique Design magazine. He's also happy to be a later-in-life dad who adopted two children from Guatemala with his wife.

Jennifer Mooney

Jennifer Mooney is a reformed corporate communications senior executive. She has also worked in the advertising industry and founded The Mooney Group, LLC, a boutique public relations practice. She is an avid adventurer and traveler, which includes climbing/hiking, open water swimming, and downhill skiing. She is a downtown resident and is married to Donald Mooney. She has two grown daughters.


Jessica Esemplare

Jessica Esemplare is the managing editor of Soapbox Cincinnati and a graduate of Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. Shortly after completing her degree in magazine journalism, she began covering local and regional topics at The Cincinnati Herald and, later, as an editor at Ohio Magazine. Her writing has also been featured in U.S. News and World Report.

Carey Hoffman

As a Cincinnatian for almost all his life, Carey Hoffman has written about numerous subjects involving almost every Greater Cincinnati neighborhood. He enjoys history — both local and beyond — reading, anything to do with golf, most things related to basketball, and all things that make Cincinnati a more interesting and better place.
