The Village at the Levee will offer free vendor space to local makers

Every Christmas, Newport on the Levee is transformed into a holiday winter wonderland full of great fanfare and excitement, including a tree light-up ceremony, the grand arrival of Santa, and special activities for children and families.

This year’s celebration will offer a first-time, unique, and free opportunity for community artisans, merchants, and purveyors to apply to become holiday “pop-up” stores as part of the Village on the Levee inside the Gallery Building. The Gallery Building is home to AMC Theaters and several restaurants and specialty shops.

Crafts makers, retailers, eateries, breweries/bourbon producers, performers, service providers, and more have the chance to be a part of this holiday village, utilizing rent-free spaces that range in size from 700 to 7,800 square feet.

Participating pop-up retailers and service providers will open to the public from Saturday, November 23 through Saturday, December 28, 2019. The opening of the Village on the Levee on November 23 coincides with the 11th annual holiday kick-off event, Light Up the Levee.

At a minimum, pop-up vendors must be open within the hours of operation of the Village, which are 4 p.m.–8 p.m. during the week, 11 a.m.–8 p.m. on Saturdays, and noon–5:30 p.m. on Sundays.

Cincinnati-based North American Properties purchased the Newport on the Levee mall in late 2018. Next year, the mall will be transformed, and the company’s chief investment officer, Tim Perry, recognizes that before next year’s updating, the company is in the unique position to offer retail spaces for the holiday season.

“Newport on the Levee has always been a community-driven hub,” Perry says. “To show our profound appreciation for the artisans and makers in our region and to offer our holiday guests gifts and merchandise they can’t find anywhere else, we decided to create an amazing pop-up experience surrounding our holiday programming.”

To learn more about this opportunity, visit www.newportonthelevee.com/winterwonder or email [email protected]. Applications and indications of interest should be submitted no later than Wednesday, November 20. Pop-up tenants will be announced as they are confirmed.
