Burlington, KY to serve as home to $20 million National Guard Readiness Center

Burlington, KY is scheduled to open a new National Guard Readiness Center sometime in the Spring of 2012. The 80,000-square-foot center will cost $20 million and sit on a 34.7-acre site.

When complete it will serve as home to the Kentucky Army National Guard's 1204th Aviation Support Battalion, now based at the old Twenhofel Middle School in Independence, KY.

"It's a very exciting project for Northern Kentucky and for Boone County - the investment of federal dollars in the project, the creation of new jobs," said Judge-Executive Gary Moore.

Northern Kentucky has long enjoyed a strong recruitment effort which helped convince developers to choose the Burlington site for the Readiness Center. The proximity to the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport is another advantage.

Estimates place the Readiness Center's annual economic impact in the area of about $4.4 million in salaries and spending for the region.
