Seeking to "push the envelope on green building and smart technology", new St. Bernard community improvement corporation director Al Kanters hopes to bring a touch of the modern to an older, established community.
Kanters will focus on the city's early 1900s housing stock, which often lacks energy-efficient mechanicals and the kind of amenities that young professionals desire.
According to the article, the St. Bernard city council is already considering a proposal for 18 new market-rate townhomes to be built along the old canal that could be attractive living options for UC students, professors, or hospital employees.
