Radioactive seeds and chemotherapy wafers have shown promise in treating cancerous brain tumors in a study conducted by the Neuroscience Institute at the University of Cincinnati and University Hospital.
The study showed that patients who received treatment using both had an increased survival rate compared to patients who had either the seeds or wafers alone. According to the article, the study was the first ever to explore the combination treatment.
The team's findings have been published in the February issue of the Journal of Neurosurgery.
