The managers of the Fernald Preserve in Crosby Township are seeking LEED "gold" certification for a building that once stood on a Superfund site.
The visitors center is the adaptive re-use of a warehouse built in 2000 as part of the $4.4 billion cleanup of the former uranium foundry.
According to the Enquirer, green elements will include geothermal heating and cooling, the use of eco-friendly products, reduced water use, and the use of local and recycled materials.
