CostQuest Associates chosen to provide Alabama broadband

CostQuest Associates has been selected for a $1.7 million, two-year contract to provide broadband Internet service to unserved areas of Alabama.

The firm emerged from a 34-member bipartisan committee, which was charged with selecting a provider from more than 2,000 applicants.

Alabama Governor Bob Riley says that the project, which will be funded almost entirely with federal grants, will make high-speed Internet access with cables or wireless connections available even in rural areas.

The Alabama Legislature approved the contract on Thursday.
