Kroger feeding shoppers' hunger for store brands

Sales of Kroger's store brands have increased 15 percent this year - a trend that is likely to continue for the nation's largest grocery store and largest self-owned manufacturing operation with 40 factories.

Officials at Cincinnati-based Kroger see the production of their own store brands as a better way to control costs and product decisions.  Through the process of adding more store brands, Kroger has also created 400 manufacturing jobs at its factories around the country.
