Paint the Town 2008 to beautify 47 homes

Give Back Cincinnati's Paint the Town 2008 is coming to Covington on June 14, an event that will improve the curb appeal of 47 of the city's houses. Paint the Town is an all-day community service event in which volunteers work within designated neighborhoods to paint homes that just need a little TLC.

Over the previous six years, Paint the Town has painted 123 houses in the communities of Carthage, College Hill, East End, Hartwell, Madisonville, Northside, and Price Hill. In addition to the benefits for the homeowners and the community at large, the event can also serve as a catalyst for building relationships and civic pride among the region's young professionals.

"Paint the Town is so unlike anything I've ever done," says volunteer Bridget Hall.   "I returned to Cincinnati after growing up here and attending undergrad in Nashville.  Once I started volunteering, I found that I was surrounded with young people that were just like me in every which way.  Before I knew it, I was more involved with my community and was loving living in Cincinnati again."

Team leader Maggie Brennan, who will be taking part in her seventh Paint the Town event, says it gives her "an overwhelming sense of joy satisfaction".

"I love working with and for like-minded people and it is truly an awesome experience to dive in and help beautify a community in one day," she says.  "To see the faces of the homeowners and know that you helped make a difference in their lives...it's priceless."

Partners in this year's event include Legacy and the Center for Great Neighborhoods of Covington.
