Brewery District charrette: A day for the civic-minded

This Saturday, the public is invited to the Art Academy of Cincinnati to participate in a brainstorming event to produce designs for mixed-use, transit-oriented developments that express the heritage of Over-the-Rhine's Brewery District.

At the Over-the-Rhine Brewery District Charrette, teams of architects, University of Cincinnati architecture students, and participants will devise strategies for the redevelopment of several sites throughout the neighborhood, including the area around Findlay Market.

The event is designed to be of special interest to Over-the-Rhine residents, business owners, developers, architects, investors, and civic-minded Cincinnatians.

A similar event last year, which was attended by more than 30 architects and 90 community members, led to a report highlighting several actionable ideas.

The all-day event begins at 9 AM and will be followed by a 4 PM reception, after which the completed designs will be displayed and critiqued.

Registration is required, and box lunches can be ordered for $10.

The charrette will be hosted by the Architectural Foundation of Cincinnati, AIA Cincinnati, Art Academy of Cincinnati and the Brewery District Community Urban Redevelopment Corporation, with support provided by the Bettman Prize from AIA Cincinnati, Corporation for Findlay Market, glaserworks, GBBN Architects, RWA Architects, and Cole + Russell Architects.
