Dan Dugan named president of Dugan & Meyers; inclusion to drive growth

Dan Dugan, grandson of founder Fran Dugan, has been named president of Dugan & Meyers Construction Company, and plans to emphasize collaboration and inclusion to grow the company's heavy division.

As head of the $85 million general contractor, construction manager, design builder and concrete specialist, Dugan says he plans to include more minority-owned and women-owned businesses in as partners on company projects.

"Diversity is not just a buzzword," Dugan says in a media release.  "It's huge, and in many places, it's required.  We realize we can't do it alone anymore, which is why we have placed such a big emphasis on inclusion and collaboration within our industry.  That could involve design firms, architects and engineers, or other construction entities to successfully deliver construction projects."

The heavy division, created in 2000, contributes nearly 20 percent of the company's revenues.

Dugan, who took over company operations from his father earlier this year, has been charged with growing its business from $23 million to $40 million in the next four years.

"We made a strategic decision a few years ago to more actively pursue business for the Heavy Division and quite frankly it has turned into one of the more productive divisions this company has ever had," Dugan says.  "We would like to see the Heavy Division grow to a $30 million business in three years, and as much as $40 million over the next four years."

Founded in Cincinnati in 1935 with offices in Cincinnati, Columbus and Louisville, Dugan & Meyers lists among its accomplishments the City's newest downtown sports arenas, the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center, the PNC Center, the Chemed Center, and the Daniel Carter Beard ("Big Mac") Bridge.
