Neyer named Entrepreneur of the Year

Dan Neyer, president of Neyer Properties, Inc., has been named the 2008 Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year in the category of real estate, construction and design.

Neyer received the honor at a June 26 gala reception at the Duke Energy Center.

Ernst and Young annually presents the honors to men and women who have shown the ability to turn powerful ideas into distinctive new businesses.

Since forming Neyer Properties in 1995, his company has developed over 3,000 acres of land and completed hundreds of building projects, often in areas which other developers have avoided due to condemned buildings, environmental hazards, or inadequate infrastructure.

As an honoree, Neyer will participlate in the Ernst and Young Strategic Growth Forum, a gathering of high-growth, market-leading companies to be held in Palm Springs this November.

Forbes.com has called the strategic growth forum one of its "seven get-ahead executive retreats".

Honorees will also compete for Entrepreneur of the Year national awards.

Neyer was among three finalists nominated in his category, eclipsing Paul Hemmer of Paul Hemmer Companies in Fort Mitchell and Lee Robinson of the Lee W. Robinson Company in Louisville.

Along with Dave Herche of Enerfab, he is one of two Cincinnatians to be honored from a pool of regional companies stretching from Columbus to Louisville.
