Growing industry sectors springing up all over Northern Kentucky

As the U.S. continues to venture down a path of economic uncertainty there are still industry sectors that are maintaining growth and economic vitality. Entrepreneurship and technology focused companies enjoy growth during unstable times due to a lack of competitors and a void of innovation and creativity.  Northern Kentucky Tri-ED is focused on serving entrepreneurs and high-tech companies through its work to attract high tech companies to the region, support of existing IT companies and through the services of the Northern Kentucky ezone.

Writing in Forbes magazine in November, Rich Karlgaard noted that companies born out of the seventies included Southwest Airlines, FedEx, Microsoft, Genentech, Apple and SAS Institute and Oracle. He believes the tough conditions at the time – high taxes, inflation, political turmoil and a bearish stock market – drove bright young people into unconventional careers.

“Picture Bill Gates in the 1970s, with an SAT score of 1590 and a burning ambition,” wrote Karlgaard. “What existing jobs could possibly have satisfied young Gates? Wall Street was a sleepy place back then. IBM was a blue-suit, white-shirt workplace. Bell Labs stimulated the brain but offered little adrenalin. Entrepreneurship was where it was at.”

Through the Northern Kentucky ezone, Northern Kentucky Tri-ED is helping entrepreneurs and high-tech companies succeed. Northern Kentucky companies assisted by the ezone have secured $54,350,000 in funding since the ezone’s founding in 2001. The ezone has assisted in the creation of 973 new jobs with 134 firms in Northern Kentucky over the last seven years.  dbaDirect and Tier 1 Performance Solutions are just two of many companies that has benefited from the Northern Kentucky ezone’s services  and programs funded through the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority.

Northern Kentucky offers all the necessary components for technology businesses to be successful – from reliable power at a low cost to state-of-the-art networks and technology solutions partners. Companies like Tier 1 Performance Solutions, dbaDirect and Perot Systems call Northern Kentucky home and provide IT services to companies in the region and around the globe at a lower cost than many well-known IT hubs in the U.S.
