Issue Media Group (IMG)  is seeking a creative and energetic self-starter to fill the role of managing editor for one of Cincinnati’s earliest digital-first publications, Soapbox Cincinnati. Ideal candidates will have previous professional digital storytelling experience or be a recent graduate with relevant qualifications and work experience and samples. Candidates should have a passion for finding interesting stories and be able to perform under the parameters of deadline requirements. The ideal candidate will have experience writing and editing high-quality magazine-style features and news stories; experience in online journalism, social media and solutions journalism; and an interest in community and social issues including economic development, diversity, social justice, housing innovations, environment and sustainability, healthy communities and entrepreneurship. Preferred candidates are based in the Cincinnati region and have a good grasp of the area’s neighborhoods, challenges and opportunities.
This candidate will also bring a willingness to learn and experiment, a collaborative spirit, a knack for spotting emerging trends, and connections to thought leaders and creative talent.
Managing Editor responsibilities may include:

· Drive the editorial vision and IMG mission (process, standards, etc.)
· Manage the publication's editorial calendar identifying and assigning story ideas/topics
· Edit stories (including special project and partner content)
· Regularly contribute features and news stories
· Proofread and publish stories in CMS
· Write and publish email newsletters to subscribers
· Support editorial advisory and engaged journalism gatherings
· Identify, develop and engage a diverse base of freelance talent
· Manage monthly editorial budget
· Support social media efforts
· Collaborate regularly with Issue Media Group local and national leadership on new initiatives including audience development
