Open Position: Social Media Coordinator
Responsibilities: Social media content creation, posting and engagement management for Soapbox Cincinnati

Soapbox is looking for a part-time social media content creator to support the publication’s goals around focus sectors, place, and keyword tagging. Social media content will reinforce engagement with the publication's core audience, adults 25-44 years old.

The number of published stories varies from week to week. Each story published in Soapbox begins a communication cadence encouraging readers to share. Soapbox believes in C.O.P.E. - Create once, publish everywhere.

The right person will have a basic understanding of targeting and engaging an audience of interested loyal readers and followers on social media in addition to reaching and developing new audiences around stories.

Basic considerations for content creation include creating content with tags weekly as social media posts coordinated with the issue production schedule and tagging people and organizations based on story and event content. Social media content will be created using Hootsuite for four main channels, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn.

Additional social media content opportunities are available for special projects, events, and partnership promotion. For events, maintain regular, predictable social media presence on relevant publication social platforms leading up to, during and following each event. For special projects and partnership promotions: coordinate with the publisher to recommend content to publish to social media from the series to support audience growth for the series. For editorial projects, coordinate with the managing editor or project editor to recommend content to publish to social media from the series to support audience growth for the series.

Knowledge or demonstrated skills with social media platforms YouTube, Reddit, TikTok, and Pinterest is preferred but not required.

Familiarity with analytics reporting, audited mentions and conversations, and determining best times for posting engagement and ROI are a plus as is managing response to social media to maximize engagement

This position is a contract role and reports to the publisher. The Social Media Coordinator represents Soapbox Cincinnati and Issue Media Group publications with a journalistic approach and may not use any of the channels to push a personal or special interest agenda.
