AK Steel has won a MANNY award for excellence in manufacturing from Cincy magazine, who recognized the company's "breakthrough" performance in 2007.
Despite high raw materials and energy costs, the Butler County-based company last year led all U.S. steelmakers in adjusted operating profitability, returning the manufacturer to solid financial footing.
According to the media release, Cincy magazine's MANNY awards honor Cincinnati manufacturers across five key areas of success: Job creation, work environment, innovation, breakthroughs and growth.
This year, AK Steel has also been named by Fortune as one of "America's Most Admired Companies" and, in 2007, was listed among CNNMoney.com's "Top 10 Best Performing Stocks".
