When Hillary Weidner’s oldest daughter, Beatrice, was born with a rare liver disease, the doctors at Children’s Hospital saved her by determining that Weidner would be a good match for donation.

“It was a crazy, traumatic, amazing experience,” Weidner told “Good Morning America.” “We owe so much to the hospital.”

So when her best friend’s son decided to sell lemonade and donate the profits to Children’s, Weidner and her kids joined in. What started as an impressive $148 donation grew quickly as the story went viral and some celebrities stepped in to help. People began sending money via Weidner’s venmo account and the amount donated to Children’s liver and organ research quickly grew to more than $125,000.
