Boone County's population grew 2.2 percent from 2008 to 2009 despite troubles with the economy, including at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport, according to freshly released data from the U.S. Census Bureau.
Boone County grew by 2,577 people from July 1, 2008, to July 1, 2009, according to the federal agency. Boone's population stepped up from 115,999 to 118,576, according to figures the bureau released this week.
Boone remained on the bureau's list of the nation's fastest-growing counties, at No. 67, based on percentage of population change since 2000 (37.9 percent). In Kentucky, only Spencer (50.7 percent) and Scott (38.7 percent) counties led Boone in percentage growth.
