Community Support Essential to Robust Air Service

The Board and staff of the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) thank you for your patronage and support. We recognize that passengers have a choice when selecting an airline or airport and we are dedicated to earning your continued business. We also recognize, however, that the level of air service offered at CVG has decreased over the last several years for a variety of reasons. CVG staff is working daily on ways to stabilize the level of air service to better serve the needs of the region. This endeavor requires the continued commitment and support of the community. So what can each member of the community do to assist? Simply put, utilize CVG and its services and amenities.

Over the last six months of 2009, local passenger traffic at CVG grew more than 20% when compared to the same period in 2008, helping to fill parking lots and improve related revenue streams. While the funding model at CVG is complex in many ways, it is easy to understand that increased non-aeronautical revenue, such as parking, is directly linked to fees charged by the airlines. The greater the revenues from non-aeronautical sources, the lower the charges passed on to the airlines. In today's cost cutting airline industry, decreasing airline fees is an essential component to remaining a market competitive airport.

Building local passenger numbers at CVG and increasing patronage of CVG's on-airport parking and concessions is not only important to reducing costs to airlines, but it is also critical to maintaining a robust flight schedule. As of February 2010, CVG will offer approximately 220 average daily departures by all its carriers to 70 domestic non-stop markets and 4 international non-stop markets, including Paris – a high level of air service compared to other similar size cities. The increase in local passengers coupled with one of the most efficient airfields, best-in-class facilities and a vibrant community, will further enhance CVG's position to grow new air service as the economy rebounds.

CVG would like to thank the local community for its continued and ongoing support. Airlines will serve CVG to the extent of the needs of the community. Together, we can preserve and enhance CVG's ability to serve as an economic engine directly benefiting the Tri-State Region by providing a means for job growth and increased business attraction.
