Mercy Health Physicians Names Randall T. Curnow Vice President of Medical Affairs

Mercy Health, which provides quality care with compassion in your neighborhood through its network of care, announces that Mercy Health Physicians has named Randall T. Curnow, Jr., MD, MBA, FACP, FACHE, FACPE as Vice President of Medical Affairs for Mercy Health Physicians.

As Vice President of Medical Affairs for Mercy Health Physicians, Dr. Curnow, Jr. will serve as a key member of the Mercy Health Physicians Executive team focusing on working toward further development of the strong, multi-specialty group. He will play an integral role in leading Mercy Health Physicians’ journey in clinical integration, which includes Patient-Centered Medical Homes (PCMH), Accountable Care (ACO) activities, quality improvement and physician leadership development. 

Dr. Curnow comes to Mercy Health from Summit Medical Group in Knoxville, TN, where he spent five years. In his most recent role, as Executive Vice President/Chief Medical Officer, he worked with the Board of Directors and senior management team on accountable care, clinical integration, medical home and quality measurement and improvement strategies. Under his area of responsibility were clinical quality reporting, metrics and improvement, the accountable care division, patient experience and satisfaction, care management and coordination services, hospitalists services, workplace wellness programs and urgent care centers. In these roles, Dr. Curnow was responsible for over 100 employees. He developed the first patient-centered medical home program in Tennessee recognized by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). 

Prior to this, Dr. Curnow was with Boylan Medical Group in Raleigh, NC for 10 years where he served as President and practiced in Internal Medicine. Dr. Curnow has received the NCQA Physician Recognition Award for Diabetes and Heart/Stroke Care (2007); he also has given numerous lectures and presentations across the country; as well as authored publications and papers. 

Dr. Curnow holds a number of certifications and professional associations; as well as an MBA from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, MA; Residency in Internal Medicine and Internship in Psychiatry from Emory University School of Medicine, Atlanta, GA. He holds his MD from University of Virginia School of Medicine, Charlottesville, VA. Dr. Curnow now resides in Loveland with his wife, Theresa, and two boys, Ryan and Colin.

Mercy Health Physicians Names Timothy M. Duever Vice President of Physician Transactions 

Mercy Health, which provides quality care with compassion in your neighborhood through its network of care, announces that Mercy Health Physicians has named Timothy M. Duever as Vice President of Physician Transactions.

As Vice President of Physician Transactions, Duever is primarily responsible for facilitating new physician affiliation agreements and employed physician contract renewals in a timely fashion for Mercy Health Physicians and all Mercy Health facilities. As part of this process, he will manage a team to obtain third-party appraisals, perform financial and strategic due diligence, and develop legal documents. Guiding his efforts will be Mercy Health’s strategic vision for community needs, quality care and physician-hospital system integration. 

Duever joins Mercy Health from The Christ Hospital Health Network, where for the last three years he served as Senior Executive Director, Physician Division. He grew the employed network by more than 100 providers in 10 specialties and developed the infrastructure to manage the operational and financial needs of the division. Duever also led a multidisciplinary team to implement conversion from independent practice to employed provider, and served as the liaison between hospital and physicians to ensure delivery of high-quality patient care within the enterprise. 

Prior to this role, Duever was the Director of Healthcare Strategy Group at PriceWaterhouseCoopers. He has also held positions with V4 Consulting. He started his career with Ernst & Young, LLP. 

Duever holds a Masters in Healthcare Administration from Xavier University, with a BA in Accounting from Indiana University. He is involved with Medical Group Management Association (MGMA) and Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA). He resides in Mariemont with his wife and two children.

Mercy Health Appoints Peter Owendoff President of the Mercy Health Foundation 

Mercy Health, which provides quality care with compassion in your neighborhood through its network of care, announces that it has appointed Peter Owendoff President of the Mercy Health Foundation. Owendoff assumed his role on January 21 and is responsible for raising and directing funds toward advancing and improving health care at Mercy Health. 

“Peter has a proven track record in fundraising, capital giving, planned giving and strategic capital campaigns. His expertise will help the Mercy Health Foundation raise funds that support Mercy Health’s mission to extend the healing ministry of Jesus by improving the health of our communities with an emphasis on people who are poor and under-served,” says Yousuf J. Ahmad, Mercy Health Market President and CEO. 

Owendoff comes to the Mercy Health Foundation from Cincinnati’s Xavier University, where he served as Executive Director of Major Gifts since 2005. He managed the major gifts team that helped raise more than $200 million dollars toward Xavier’s To See Great Wonders Capital Campaign. He also managed key solicitations for the University President and Vice President for University Relations. 

Previously, he served as Xavier University’s Regional Director for Development from 1998-2005 with responsibility for the southern region of the United States. He has also held a marketing and sales position supporting Xavier with The Superlative Group in Cleveland. 

Owendoff earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Xavier University. He lives in the Indian Springs neighborhood in Sharonville with his wife Lisa, who is originally from Blue Ash.

In her new role, Dr. Frankowski will: 

• Lead the strategic development of a high-value network of providers and facilities for Mercy Health 

• Lead the development of population health initiatives that will produce higher quality health care at a lower cost 

• Engage with physicians and other providers across Mercy Health’s network to improve the value of the health care Mercy Health provides. This includes leading the Mercy Health Clinical Integration Oversight Council (CIOC) .

• Develop relationships with payers and employers in the region 

Previously, Dr. Frankowski served as chief medical officer of Mercy Health Select, the first and only accountable care organization (ACO) in Greater Cincinnati, and the senior medical director of clinical integration for Mercy Health Physicians. 

“Since joining Mercy Health Physicians in 2010, Dr. Frankowski has played an integral part in developing population health initiatives such as our patient-centered medical home program, care coordinators and physicians’ quality program and ensuring our employed physician group is clinically integrated with Mercy Health,” says Dan Roth, MD, Mercy Health’s chief medical officer and president of Mercy Health Physicians. “That experience will serve her well as she leads Mercy Health’s further integration efforts that will coordinate patient care across conditions, providers, settings and time so that we provide patient-focused, effective, high-quality and timely care to each of our patients every time.”
