1,000 PeaceWomen exhibit to publicize Xavier women's center

In an article in the March 7 edition of the National Catholic Reporter, Xavier University women's center director Jennifer Wies calls 1,000 PeaceWomen their "first big thing".

Wies hopes that the nationally-known exhibit will publicize their center throughout the wider community.

Housed in a 1920s bungalow, the center provides a space where women's issues can be discussed.  It also partners with academic departments for research on women, girls, and gender issues and assists women who have been victims of domestic violence.

Closed since 1980 after only eight years, the idea for a women's center on campus was revived in 2005, and opened in August 2007.
