The New York Times celebrates Cincinnati's Overlook Lodge

The New York Times has discovered a Pleasant Ridge watering hole which pays homage to "The Shining," The Overlook Lodge.

In a Nov. 21  travel story which takes a look at movie bars, The Times considers the eerie details of the homey bar, from the axes on the wall, to the illuminated sign outside: “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.”

A typewriter sits by the door, a square of carpet outside the bathroom — movie reference points. The cocktails menu includes Green Lady, Writer’s Block, the Summer Caretaker, the Elevator and Twin Shots, a reference to the film’s spooky girl ghosts. The decor runs to rustic chic with antler chandeliers, timbered eaves, a big stone fireplace and mid-century modern chairs.
