Ohio voters approve ballot measure allowing casinos

Ohio became the 13th state to allow casinos as voters approved a ballot measure that will create casinos in the state’s four largest cities – Cincinnati, Columbus, Cleveland, and Toledo.  The goal is to have the new casinos opened by late 2012. The emphasis of the proposal was on the 34,000 jobs and millions of dollars in state revenues that are projected to be created as a result.  Three previous ballot measures failed at accomplishing the same task, but with Ohio facing an unemployment rate of 10.8 percent, the impetus may have been there more than ever before.
