Cincinnati Children’s among 10 hospitals to receive nation’s top rating

Cincinnati Children’s Hospital has received one of the top ratings in the nation.

The Avondale-based hospital system has been named a Level I children’s surgery center by the American College of Surgeons (ACS).

Level I status means the hospital meets the highest standards for care, staffing, training, infrastructure, resources, quality improvement, safety and data collection set by the ACS. Only 10 children’s hospitals in the U.S. have received the rating.

The Children’s Surgery Verification Program verifies that each hospital in the list meets the standards established in the Optimal Resources for Children’s Surgical Care. The Children's Surgery Verification Program was established by the ACS, in collaboration with the Task Force for Children’s Surgical Care to improve the quality of children’s surgical care by creating a system that allows for a prospective match of every child’s individual surgical needs with a care environment that has optimal pediatric resources.
