Forget about paying for an overpriced ticket to see the latest blockbuster starring some botoxed blonde this weekend and take in a classic with 1959's Some Like It Hot as presented by the Cinema in the City Outdoor Summer Movie Series in Eden Park's Seasongood Pavilion. The FREE showing is the first of three films that will all be shown thanks to the Mt. Adams Civic Association in conjunction with City Parks and Planning. Upcoming films include To Catch a Thief and Philadelphia Story. Gates open at 7:30 and movies begin at dusk .


Taste of the NFL

Hosted by Cincinnati Bengals guard Andrew Whitworth and Chef Andy Hajjar of Andy’s Mediterranean Grille, this annual dinner-by-the-bite event will pair chefs from more than 30 of the Tri-State’s favorite restaurants with players, coaches and alumni from the Cincinnati Bengals.  The evening will include a silent auction of sports themed items, a live auction of dinners and other experiences with players and coaches, and a raffle featuring a “20 Nights Out” gift pack of twenty $100 gift certificates to some of Cincinnati’s top restaurants. Reggae Release

What's better than one talented band releasing a record? Four talented bands releasing records. The Mad Hatter hosts a Records Release Party this Friday evening for four of the area's hottest reggae/ska bands. The Pinstripes, Green Room Rockers and The Void Union debut new vinyl, while Losanti releases a new CD. The Pinstripes were a 2007 CityBeat Cincinnati Entertainment Award-winner.  Show starts at 7:00 p.m. and cost of attendance is only $7.00, but be sure to bring enough greenbacks to lay out for the hot new releases.


Glass & Wood & Ceramics! Oh, My!

Who didn't love show and tell? Cincinnati Art Museum is having a little show of their own with the private collection of local collectors, Nancy and David Wolf. Among their nationally recognized collection of contemporary work from leading artists, on display will be 65 works by artists who push the limits of their materials.  Outside the Ordinary: Contemporary Art in Glass, Wood, and Ceramics from the Wolf Collection opens to the public this Saturday at 11 a.m. and will feature demonstrations by FunkeFired Arts ceramist, Mary Karg and the Ohio Valley Woodturners Guild, interactive performances with glass by Michael Bashaw and much more.

 

An Historically Futuristic Run

This Saturday morning lace-up the gym shoes and hit the pavement for a unique GO OTR 5k Walk/Run which takes you through the latest in revitalization projects as well as past the stunning historic architecture which lines the streets of OTR. Entry fee is $12.00 for pre-registration and $20.00 day of. If you're not feeling like running, the OTR/Gateway Summer Celebration will serve as the perfect place to cheer on your athletic friends while you take in the art, live music, food and beer . Both race and celebration begin at 10:00 a.m.
