Dino-mite
October 29

Who can forget the scene where the ferocious T-Rex escapes from his pen and attempts to make grandchildren Timmy and Lex, who are cowering in the SUV, his dinner in1993’s Jurrasic Park?  The cinematic masterpiece brought dinosaurs back to life millions of years later and the BBC has done it again with, WALKING WITH DINOSUARS-The Live Experience. For a limited time only the award winning television show brings dinosaurs to roam the earth and stage once again. Don’t miss the chance for audience interaction with these prehistoric wonders, a lesson in dinosaur’s evolution and lastly, the reasons behind their ultimate demise (hint: it wasn’t a meteor!). Show held at the new Bank of Kentucky Center. Click here for show times and tickets.

October 31

OK, so you’re too old to trick-or-treat, now what? Well you’re in luck because Cincinnati’s Music Hall is throwing a bash, a monster bash. So guys, grab your Indiana Jones whips and ladies throw on those way too short candy striper dresses, and head out to Enchanted Ball 2008 this Halloween night. There’s no better place to spend your All Hallows’ Eve than getting lost in the festivities of aerial dancing, fire and belly dancing, live music, costume contests with prizes, psychics and of course a tour of the haunted house itself, Music Hall, by a real paranormal research team. The Ball is 18+ and tickets can be purchased online

Heave-Ho
November 1

So now that October is over, what do you do with all those jack-o-lanterns you carved? Send them hurling into the air of course! Bring your old pumpkins to Stanbery Park in Mt. Washington this Saturday afternoon for the 3rd Annual Pumpkin Chuck and make compost of those rotting decorations. Your pumpkin will be put into a trebuchet, a relative of the catapult, and be sent flying into the bottom of a sled riding hill for all to see. Don’t fret if you didn’t carve a pumpkin this year, some will be available for purchase that day. Besides pumpkin chucking, enjoy food, drinks, arts and crafts and hot air balloon rides. Where else could you meet the illustrator of children’s favorite The Little Engine that Could along with the U.S. Marine behind the book turned blockbuster hit Jarhead? Well this Saturday you get the chance to meet both, along with about 90+ other authors/illustrators, at the 2nd Annual Book by the Banks: Cincinnati USA Book Festival. In the age of online, sometimes we forget it about those hard-covered things called books, but this festival is an entire day of getting back to the paper copies. Come out to the Duke Energy Convention Center and enjoy book signings, an author panel discussion and readings and an abundance of activities for the little ones in Target Kids’ Corner. Check out the website for more details.
