Barley and Laughs
August 22-23

What’s better than sitting around with a bunch of your friends laughing? Sitting around with a bunch of your friends laughing and sampling beer. The Cincinnati USA Brew Ha-Ha invades Sawyer Point Park this weekend and brings with it over 50 comedians, 60 beers and lots of laughter. Headlining this chuckles fest are comedians Heywood Banks and Tom Mabe, both have appeared on Comedy Central Presents and been guests on Cincinnati’s very own The Bob and Tom Radio Show. It’s only the second year for Brew Ha-Ha but they’ve got the recipe for fun down! Visit the website for more event details

Better living through Topiary
A MAN NAMED PEARL, screening at the Cincinnati Art Museum, August 24, 26 and 27.

When Pearl Fryar and his wife Metra moved to tiny Bishopville, S.C., a prospective neighbor asserted, "black people don't keep up their yards." Without formal training -- just passion, energy and discards from the local nursery -- Pearl began sculpting his three-and-a-half acres into a dazzling array of abstract topiary art, earning the respect of art and garden authorities around the world. Pearl's impressive creation has become a major tourist attraction, source of community pride and unique bridge between local whites and blacks.

Cincinnati World Cinema presents this family-friendly film 2 pm on Sunday, August 24, 7pm and on Tuesday and Wednesday August 26 and 27 at 7 pm.
