Cincinnati Salsa Festival

The third annual Cincinnati Salsa Fest will be a free, zesty weekend of live music, dancing demonstrations and workshops, as well as spicy Latin food and drinks. Your hips won't lie as you join the certified attempt for The Largest Salsa Class in the Guinness Book of World Records. Take what you've learned from Zumba class at your gym and salsa yourself down to Sawyer Point.



Summer Gathering of the Bacchanalian Society

Thursday, July 29, 7:00-10:00 p.m.
McMicken Commons, University of Cincinnati

Gather a team of 1-3 people to partake in this quarterly philanthropic wine tasting. Teams are admitted by bringing 3 bottles of the same featured varietal to the event. The bottles are disguised and numbered for blind tasting, with one from each team set aside while the others are set out for open tasting. As teams taste, they rate. The highest ranked bottle's team wins the bounty, the lowest taking home their bottle of poor choice. A suggested donation of $10 can be paid prior to the event online or $15 can be paid at the door. The summer 2009 gathering varietal is California whites, which makes up 90% of all U.S. wine. Light bites provided by Keystone Bar & Grill. Proceeds from the event will benefit SPCA.

Freestore Foodbank Rubber Duck Regatta Fundraiser

Part of the Freestore Foodbank's Rubber Duck Regatta fundraiser, this fifth annual event will feature the auction of nearly 60 giant rubber ducks that have been signed by both local and national celebrities and decorated in their likeness by local artists. Sponsored by Midwest Financial, the Celebrity Duck Auction will serve as the official kick-off of the Freestore Foodbank's largest fundraising event of the year, the 16th Annual Rubber Duck Regatta.

Indie flick Handmade Nation documents the new wave of art, craft and design that is capturing the attention of the nation. Witness the feature film debut of director, author, artist and curator Faythe Levine, who traveled to 15 cities and covered more than 19,000 miles to interview artists, crafters, makers, curators and community members. Also a stellar chance to check out Northside's vintage furniture store, Red Polly and indulge pre-show with the Dojo Gelato cart and Cafe de Wheels oh-so-good burgers at 4:30.
