Shift It
January 26
It's considered folklore or mythology, but some of the most famous characters of all time have been shapeshifters - The Terminator's T-100, the villainous Mystique and most recently, the hot-blooded werewolf Jacob Black, to name a few.  Come see what happens when folklore meets art in the Country Club's newest exhibit, Shapeshifter. Seven area artists found that, with a little cleverness, mundane materials could be transformed into works of art that speak to a variety of issues. Organic sculptures, surrogate body parts, invisibility and internet search results are just a few things that can be seen in the exhibit. Shapeshifter is now open at Country Club on Madison Road and can been seen Monday - Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. through April 10th.

Not To Be Confused With CCR

Chatham County Line aka CCL is giving new meaning to the term "hillbilly rock" as they push their amazingly fluid fiddle, mandolin chops and rolling banjo just as far as any rock instrument dares to go. All the way from Raleigh, North Carolina, Chatham County Line is bringing their edgy Bluegrass to Southgate House this Thursday night, showing everyone just what classic country storytelling combined with the modern feel of Ryan Adams sounds like. Come get down to CCL's gritty, organic beats starting at 8:00 p.m. in the Ballroom. Tickets are $10.00 in advance; $12.00 at the doors.

Urban Exploration
January 29
"In fourteen hundred ninety-two Columbus sailed the ocean blue."  We all know how that exploratory story goes. Well in 2010, artists Sherman Cahal, Zach Fein and Ronny Salerno are showing us the results of their own exploration, as they embark on adventures around the city to unveil and photograph the historic underbelly of Cincinnati. Check out some of the forgotten gems these artists have uncovered at Park + Vine's new exhibit, appropriately named, Forgotten Cincinnati. The guys have been to about 30 abandoned buildings, old tunnels and subways all across the city and photographs from these elapsed structures will be on display. Imagine seeing the old Hopple Street tunnel, the old Crosley Building or the Hudephol Brewery as you've never seen them before, abandoned, rotting and yet, somehow, mesmerizing. See the exhibit this Friday from 6:00-9:00 p.m. at the opening reception or catch it anytime through February 21 at Park + Vine located at 1109 Vine Street.
