Southbank City Living to show off Kentucky's urban style

An exploration of urban living and investment opportunities in Northern Kentucky's river cities takes place on Sunday, June 22 from 2 PM to 6 PM. Southbank City Living, sponsored by Southbank Partners and Northern Kentucky Main Street, will feature more than 20 properties in the cities of Bellevue, Covington, Dayton, Fort Thomas, Ludlow and Newport. The day will begin with a panel discussion at Odd Fellows Hall that will cover historic preservation, preservation tax credits and creative financing for rehabilitation projects.

Development opportunities in Elsmere, Erlanger and Falmouth will also be on display at The Grand. The tour derived from an initiative of the Kentucky Heritage Council, which this year has put an emphasis on urban living. Properties on the tour are in various states of renovation and offered at multiple price points, and Covington Main Street manager Kathie Hickey says that people will find it interesting to see both "raw" and completed spaces.

"It's amazing the transformation that takes place," she says.  "Often, people just can't visualize it."

Hickey says that urban neighborhoods are best explored by foot, and, with most of the sites within walking distance of each other, exploration of each city's downtown is encouraged.

"There are places you'd never see by driving through," she says.

Hickey believes it will be a lovely way to spend the day.

"Every city taking part has a unique personality, and you can get a feel for all of the different neighborhoods," she says.  "If you really want to learn about Northern Kentucky, it's a wonderful place to be."
