Red Bank Crossing II continues Neyer's commitment to LEED

Neyer Properties' Red Bank Crossing II in Madisonville, completed last July, has earned LEED certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.

The two-story, 30,000-square-foot medical office building, at 4400 Red Bank Expressway, incorporated more than 20 green features to attain LEED certification, including:

  • Building the complex on a brownfield, which reduced pressure on undeveloped green sites
  • Use of high-efficiency windows to reduce solar gain while minimizing air leaks and uncontrolled water infiltration
  • Installation of low-flow faucets and fixtures in restrooms to reduce water use by 40 percent compared to standard restrooms
  • Use of highly-efficient irrigation and native Ohio plants in landscaping, which will lower water use by 50 percent and reduces the burden on municipal systems
  • Selection and use of low volatile organic compound (VOC) paints, sealants and carpets, wood products from sustainable forests, fluorescent lighting, and low-toxicity housekeeping cleaners

Trinity Family Medicine moved into the building last August, and Christ Hospital Imaging Center has announced it will be moving in and building out its interior to LEED standards.

Neyer Properties built the first LEED-certified commercial office building in Cincinnati at Keystone Parke in Evanston.

Last June, company president Dan Neyer pledged to build all future class A office projects to LEED standards.

"We're finding that long-term tenants want the energy and utility savings and the increased employee productivity that comes from working in a healthy environment in a green building," Neyer says.  "When they compare these advantages against buildings constructed under traditional construction methods, they are choosing the green building."

Red Bank Crossing II is part of the $25 million Red Bank Crossing development.

The last remaining piece of the development, a 7,500-square-foot retail outlot, will begin construction later this year.
