Mt. Washington
Sophia and Lola Wine and Giggles
At a point where busy Beechmont Avenue seems to take a breather, roughly between a landmark Art Deco water tower and Lunken Airport, is Mt. Washington. This east side community is home to CPS's Sands Montessori and Stansbery Park, site of the annual "Pumpkin Chuck." Primarily a recreational flying airport, Lunken does host daily flights to Chicago and New York, and has a popular biking/rollerblading path that offers views of take-offs and landings. And although Mt. Washington is the birthplace of quite a few businesses, one in particular is becoming part of the area's heritage: Gold Star Chili. It began here in the 1960s.
