In 1894, Ludlow was home to the Lagoon Amusement Park, which featured carnival rides and similar attractions. Today it's home to Circus Silly Willy, where kids can learn "theatrical clowning." Located between Covington and Bromley, Ludlow has bridged eras in other ways. It has housing that runs from things as modern as hillside condos ("River's Breeze") to as historic as the dodecagon. The latter is a 12-sided home, and Ludlow's is known as the Latta House. It was built in 1900 by the son of the inventor of the first steam fire engine in the U.S.

Slideshow: A Night At the Races

The official Derby of Rats, a unique new installation by Higher Level, and Southgate House's three floors offer up art, music, collaborations and more on a Friday night in Northern Kentucky. Managing photographer Scott Beseler has a slideshow to prove it all happened. Say cheese.
