Families love Ft. Thomas because of Highlands High School, winner of numerous athletic and academic awards; Tower Park, one of three city parks undergoing renovation this year; and the Blue Marble children's book store. Foodies love it for Vito's Café ("home of the singing servers"), where the winter menu features things like pork osso buco and wild mushroom risotto with truffle oil. But besides being known as the "District of the Highlands" (in the 19th century) and the "City of Beautiful Homes" (in the 20th), Ft. Thomas is identified with military history. And today, the Cincinnati Veterans Administration Medical Center operates a nursing home, homeless program, post-traumatic stress disorder programs and occupational and physical therapy here.
